راولپنڈی اسلام آباد میٹرو بس ملازمین کا احتجاج؛ ٹریک بلاک ہونے سے سروس معطل

وفاقی دارالحکومت اسلام آباد اور راولپنڈی کے درمیان چلنے والی میٹرو بس سروس کے ملازمین نے تنخواہوں کی عدم ادائیگی، بلاجواز کٹوتیوں اور جبری برطرفیوں کے خلاف آئی جے پی (IJP) اور پوٹھوہار اسٹیشنز کے درمیان ٹریک پر بسیں کھڑی کر کے شدید احتجاج کیا۔ ملازمین کے اس اچانک احتجاج کے باعث میٹرو بس آپریشن کئی گھنٹوں تک معطل رہا، جس سے جڑواں شہروں کے ہزاروں مسافروں کو شدید پریشانی کا سامنا کرنا پڑا۔

میٹرو بس سروس کو سیکیورٹی اور دیگر خدمات فراہم کرنے والی نجی کمپنیوں کے ملازمین گزشتہ کئی روز سے اپنے مطالبات کے لیے آواز اٹھا رہے تھے۔ کوئی شنوائی نہ ہونے پر پیر کی صبح خواتین ملازمین سمیت عملے کی ایک بڑی تعداد نے پلے کارڈز اٹھا کر ٹریک بلاک کر دیا۔ مظاہرین کا مطالبہ تھا کہ برطرف کیے گئے ملازمین کو فوری بحال کیا جائے اور گزشتہ دو سے تین ماہ کی بقایا تنخواہیں ادا کی جائیں۔

مظاہرین نے الزام عائد کیا کہ نئی ٹھیکیدار کمپنی نے کسی پیشگی نوٹس کے بغیر 150 سے 200 کے قریب پرانے ملازمین کو نوکریوں سے فارغ کر دیا ہے۔ کئی ملازمین کو یہ کہہ کر نکالا گیا کہ ان کی عمر 40 سال سے زائد ہو چکی ہے اور کمپیوٹر سسٹم انہیں قبول نہیں کر رہا۔ ملازمین نے سوال اٹھایا کہ 8 سے 10 سال سے خدمات انجام دینے والے تجربہ کار ورکرز کو مختلف حیلے بہانوں سے نکال کر نئی بھرتیاں کیوں کی جا رہی ہیں، جبکہ ان کے معاہدے 2027 تک مروجہ اصولوں کے مطابق جائز تھے۔

ملازمین نے انتظامیہ پر مالیاتی بدعنوانی کا سنگین الزام لگاتے ہوئے بتایا کہ ان سے 42,000 روپے ماہانہ کی سیلری سلپ پر دستخط کروائے جاتے ہیں، لیکن نقد ادائیگی کے وقت 5,000 روپے کی غیر قانونی کٹوتی کر کے انہیں صرف 37,000 روپے دیے جاتے ہیں۔ مظاہرین نے مطالبہ کیا کہ انہیں حکومت کے مقرر کردہ قوانین کے مطابق 40,000 روپے خالص ماہانہ تنخواہ دی جائے، غیر ضروری جرمانوں کا سلسلہ بند کیا جائے اور ماہانہ 4 باقاعدہ اور 2 ہنگامی چھٹیاں فراہم کی جائیں۔

ملازمین کا کہنا ہے کہ کمپنی کی تبدیلی کے باعث غریب کارکنوں کا استحصال بند ہونا چاہیے اور جب تک مطالبات تسلیم نہیں کیے جاتے، وہ پرامن احتجاج کا حق محفوظ رکھتے ہیں۔

Employees of private service-providing companies associated with the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus Service staged a major protest against forced terminations, unjustified salary deductions, and non-payment of wages. Protesters blocked the main track between the IJP and Potohar stations by parking buses, which suspended metro operations for several hours and left thousands of commuters stranded.

Reasons Behind the Inconvenience

The affected workers, including a notable number of female employees, gathered on Monday morning after their repeated grievances went unanswered. Demonstrators carried placards demanding the immediate reinstatement of 150 to 200 dismissed workers and the payment of pending salaries for March, April, and May. According to the workers, the dismissals began after the metro contract was awarded to a new private firm.

The protesters alleged that employees with 8 to 10 years of service were laid off under various excuses, such as an arbitrary age limit of 40 years, despite their employment contracts being valid until 2027. They questioned the logic behind terminating experienced staff to make room for new recruits through unfair practices.

Exploitation and Salary Deductions

Serious financial exploitation allegations were raised during the sit-in. Protesters claimed that while they are forced to sign salary slips showing Rs 42,000 per month, they are only handed Rs 37,000 in cash after an unexplained Rs 5,000 deduction. The workforce is demanding a full minimum monthly salary of Rs 40,000, four regular leaves, two emergency leaves, and an immediate end to unnecessary penalties.

The employees have urged the Metro Bus administration to intervene, stating that workers should not suffer due to corporate transitions and management updates.
